Myriad of materials, books, and writings have been published about Venice, the quaintest and the quirkiest cities of all and one of the most visited places on earth. Thus, the author of this compilation did not intend to produce another guide or history book; nonetheless it was inevitable not to follow the given historical timeline and shed light on particulars of the city to accentuate the uniqueness of this miraculous city.The purpose of this synthesized synopsis is to create a smooth path to the last chapter, entitled ‘Cessation of the Subsidence of the City of Venice and its Surrounding Areas’, an engineering solution that would stop the subsidence of the area in the long run. The concept is under copyright protection, but the author has chosen to waive it for the benefit of the City of Venice, hence it is in the public domain.Historians, authors of history books, have a real problem. They write about periods of time or historical events they did not experience, witness or see in person. They were not there, to put it bluntly. No matter how credited and credible they are, they have to rely on books and materials compiled by like-minded people who had not been there either. And it repeats itself. Over centuries, orally transmitted stories, at one point of time, were written down, copied, translated, changing concepts, with adding and deleting parts, only leaving scholars to fathom out what really happened. It is only when history writing is based on, or backed by, archeological evidence that it becomes credible and valuable.This publication is a synthesized synopsis about Venice and is not an original work, either. The data, which makes up the volume of this compilation, were derived from various sources: gargantuan public and intellectual sources, curricula, some brilliantly written books on the subject, and long personal conversations with pundits, artists, academics, clergy, scholars, diplomats, and travelers of high level of erudition.
